The runners up by Gracie-May (left) and Oliver (right)

The votes have been counted and verified and this afternoon, in a packed assembly at Hawkesbury Upton Primary School, the winning young designer for the Hawkesbury Stores Hare was announced!

We received 18 fabulous entries to our design challenge, which was launched to find a great design for the 18″ hare statue due to sit in the Stores’ shop window as part of the Cotswold Hare Trail 2017. Stores volunteers were invited to view our ‘hare design gallery’ and choose their favourites.

In the school assembly, Kath, Kate and Jane from the Stores’ team gave a small gift to each child that entered the challenge.

Two runners up received a chocolate bunny for their excellent entries:

  • Oliver Clements (age 8) for his imaginative ‘four seasons’ idea
  • Gracie-May Thompson (age 11) for her bright, geometric, design

Then we announced our deserving winner: Flo Pederick!

Flo, age 7, received a chocolate bunny and a big round of applause, and of course she – and hundreds of others – will get to see her design on the Hawkesbury Stores Hare until September.

Flo’s design really stood out from the crowd but you’ll have to wait a little longer to see it, as it will be unveiled in pride of place upon the hare in a few weeks!

All the other entries will be on display in Hawkesbury Stores from next week.
