We would like to announce that Kate Day, Co-Supervisor of Hawkesbury Stores, will be reducing her hours with effect from the end of September, in order to start a new business with her daughter Beth and to devote more time to the business she shares with her husband John. Her new role at Hawkesbury Stores will be office-based rather than on the shop floor, and her contract is for one day each week, which will usually be Wednesday.

As well as being a friendly face that customers have come to know and love, Kate has been a key member of the team since we opened as a community shop in June 2016, helping Hawkesbury Stores to transition effectively from its previous structure into the strong and vibrant community enterprise that it is today. During that time, Kate has risen to so many challenges, not least during the COVID-19 outbreak, when the shop has played such an important part in the lives of so many villagers.

We cannot thank Kate enough for everything she has done for Hawkesbury Stores and for the community it serves over the last four years, and we wish her every success with her new ventures.

As Kate moves into her new role, we will be taking the opportunity to restructure staffing to reflect the changing needs of the Stores. We are therefore recruiting a full-time Shop Manager to work together with staff, volunteers and the management team and to lead Hawkesbury Stores into the next stage of its development, for the benefit of the whole community.
